Pique vs. Swiss Chard

Pique managed to rouse herself from a nap and jumped up onto the dining room chair. Her nose must have told her something.

A little nibble....

A little sniff....

The cat always wins.

Everything in Moderation

Hi folks - I've been awfully lazy with the blog lately. But I will try to do better. Meanwhile, here are a couple of pictures of Pique, doing what she does best.

A note on commenting on this blog: I've had a lot of SPAM posts - weird proverbs and comments in foreign languages, so I've put a moderating function on the blog. If you try to comment and your comment doesn't show up right away, it is in my inbox awaiting approval. I normally don't like to do this kind of thing, but it's gotten to a point where it's become necessary.

Thanks. Keep reading and more to come. Promise.

A Bit of Sewing

Our cat Pique has always been an indoor cat (though she likes to go out on the balcony if, and only if, it's not too cold out), so she has never had to wear a collar. However, yesterday I was altering the collar of a button-down shirt by cutting a more open, rounder collar and hemming it by hand with blue bias tape.

Shane had the genius idea of making the cat wear the leftover collar. After we finished laughing, I realized that she looked quite distinguished. She doesn't seem to mind wearing it for a while, but of course we removed it after a bit.

Handsome, no?

A Message from Pique

Merry Christmas...

...and Happy Holidays!

Bobo the Cat

Last week I visited my mom and spent some time with the cat Bobo. Such a cutie.

Pique In Action

One of our favorite photographic subjects is Pique the cat. She usually stays still for the camera, especially when she's sleeping, but the other day Shane got a few 'action' shots of her cleaning her face.

Look at that tongue!

Bobo

There is a new animal resident at my mom's house, Bobo the cat, that we met yesterday. She came along when my mom's friend started renting the downstairs when she sold her house. Bobo is tiny, about half the size of Pique, and she used to be a stray. It was a little hard to get a good picture of her, as she is ALWAYS moving around.

Finally, a decent picture!

Just as They Were, They are Now...

We have a cat named Pique. She is a little roly-poly and a sucker for anything food related. And sometimes I look at her and remember other cats I've had over the years and wonder about them. Of course, the thing is, we can never know what a cat is thinking.

But I found a few very old pictures of cats on this flickr group and this one, and I had to shake my head and smile. They are so charming.

I'm always fascinated by old pictures in general; these photos portray creatures and people that are long dead, yet there they are, in your hands, having a kind of life, as it were. And of course someday someone else will wonder the same thing about us.

I like these pictures and the others like them that are out there. It's incredible how cats are just cats, which is a bit tautological, but how true.
